I still have my AUTOVOX 26 inch TV which was a comet special bought in 1973 I think. It is still working and has a decent picture considering it is forty years old. It has a Westinghouse tube and while the colour displayed was generally good due to different phosphors than European tubes they went soft very quickly. Mine was re gunned at RETUBE in North SOMERCOTES in 1982. It is ultrasonic remote the pick up transducer is there but mine was bought without the remote. I contacted the main comet depot a few years ago to see what spares were available and you could only buy the cabinet! This was presumably for the woodworm problem. Fortunately mine has escaped these dreadful monsters. If anyone has a remote I would be most interested in buying. John. |
