Default Solderless connection?

While stripping down a DAC90A for bits I looked over to the volume pot and saw a bit of string apparently tied from the pot' to the chassis.

It seems that whoever had been there before me never had a soldering iron so had tied the mains incoming lead to the solder tag with a bit of string!

Default Re: Solderless connection?

I once forgot my iron on a field service job. I did however find a fragment of solder at the bottom of my toolkit. I had to improvise, and took the unit (a keypad) to my car and used the cigarette lighter as a makeshift iron.
