Well the blue gun never came back, gave is a few days, running the set for long periods and still nothing so admitted defeat.

I had another of these sets in the attic (with various faults but reasonably good tube), so swapped the tube & tube base.

The only downside is that I once had 2 working sets but bit by bit I've taken out parts from one to keep the other alive, having now taken everything useful out of my spare set and put in to my good set I'm now completely out of working spare boards. So next time it something goes wrong it's going to be much harder to fix.

Thanks everyone for the advice and help.

.... forgot to actually say that the set is now working with it's new tube!!!

Let's have a picture then, please. It would be nice to see the set after hearing so much about it.

the camera on my phone really doesn't do the colours justice, I set it up side by side with a barco broadcast monitor to get the colour temperature spot on. Shame the photo's rubbish.

... and one more for luck

Nice write up and a good picture too

Granada did do an identical looking set using the GEC2110 series chassis with a delta gun tube - the only way you could tell was by looking closely at the tube (and inside of course!). They did 20" and 22" versions - the latter I still have one of (Model C22SA3).

This brings back some memories. My parents rented from Granada for years. We knew most of their repair guys by name!

Regards,
Paul

It was the delta gun version which was the last tv that my Aunty Linda rented before she finally bought a set in about 1989. It was very reliable I seem to remember and lasted well beyond what would be expected of a GEC C2110!

There was also a version of the above badged British Relay TV.

Back to the set in question, the pictures look superb. Well done.

I remember seeing one of those in a local second-hand shop about 10 years ago .Wish I'd bought it, but didn't have space at the time. I've always liked delta gun tubes, they're a nightmare to converge but there's a smoothness to the picture.
