PVM-1453MD loss of image
I just bought three of these, and they all worked fine initially.
However, one just lost the image. It rolled away from the top of the screen and then went black. After that, the remote light went out with a couple of clicks/flashes and the tally light slowly illuminated to a bright green. Now when I switch on the PVM no input buttons light up, no picture is displayed, no remote light under the power light, no OSD and therefore no menu, and the rectangular tally light above the screen is glowing bright green? Manual (the 1354md USA equivalent is all I can find online): https://docs.sony.com/release//PVM1353MD.PDF Is this unit kaput? Any thoughts? I think year of production is 2005. Any help appreciated. |

Re: PVM-1453MD loss of image
I used to install & service these, but they were generally very reliable. Sadly I no longer have a service manual.
From your description, it sounds like a power supply fault. A service manual really is a must-have. It is old though, and spares will by now unavailable. I'll ask around just in case any of my contacts still have any service info. Dave. |

Re: PVM-1453MD loss of image
Thanks Dave.
Interestingly when I activate the power switch, the power light does comes on - but there's no sound of the tube firing up. They were left in storage, unused for quite some time. I have access to some other service manuals, I'll see if any are for similar models. |

Re: PVM-1453MD loss of image
This sounds like the unit has gone into protection. I seem to remember having a 20inch from the same model range that had this problem-no picture and tally light lit.
It was due to failure of a 1uf 50v electrolytic around the line output area. I have the service manual, so i will dig it out and have a look-see if i can remember which one. If the unit has had a lot of use, quite a few of the electrolytic capacitors will have failed. |

Great, thanks for your help.
I'm in South London with it at the moment. Any chance you'd be up for helping repair? |
