RAS (Rentaset) radios - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Hi Did the radio manufacturer manufacture many radios? I noticed from a thread that they made one that looked like a STRAD 511. I saw a radio in a wood cabinet that had the markings RAS on the dial (in really small words). It was quite a strain to make them out.
a cafe in Leeds had it on display.

RAS = "Rent A Set", presumably.

Yes it is Rent-a-set. I have an RAS that looks identical to a Strad 511. I have posted about it here:-

The schematics are slightly different, the second thread referenced above has the schematic of the RAS version.

Hi. Many thanks for the replies.
The RAS radio in the cafe looks a bit plainer than the 511 lookalike. It has a clock type tuning pointer (pointer stuck due to cord drive breakage), the plastic that covers the dial has lost a bit of its clarity so the station dial looks a little faint.Also, an expanded metal speaker grille.
It is in a large wood cabinet. I will ask if I can obtain a photograph of it.
