Ex-transistor ferrite rod as tuned antenna
I would like to try to clean up MW reception on a 1930 valve radio without having a rotatable 4ft square loop antenna in the room. Is there any mileage in using an old ferrite rod aerial from a transistor radio? Has anyone tried it?

Both loops pick up the same signal so I do not think you will get any improvement but it is worth a try. The ferrite cored loop will be easier to position in a good place.
You will need to put on sufficient turns to get the same inductance, |

Popular electronic circuits No2,R A Penfold-Active MW aerial,ferrite rod and a VN10KM MOSFET looks promising.Les

Some 1950s Grundigs had a neat ferrite rod aerial that you could mechanically rotate using a knob on the front of the set.
