Default Murphy 618 Tx

Hi. I'm confused with how the AE Current circuit is actually wired up. In the schematic, one side of the variometer is connected to ground through the primary of T4, a toroidial transformer, which secondary feeds the AE current meter. But, as actually wired up, one side of the variometer is connected to a 6BA bold that holds down and runs through (axially) T4. That is making that bolt the primary for T4. But I'm having a hard time believing this circuit could possibly work. Please enlighten me. Thank you. Rich

I've just acquired a Murphy 618 tx today. I don't suppose you have any spare connectors?
