Default Re: Cleaning and repairing a Corroded computer board

If you have, or can borrow, an old cylinder vacuum cleaner that can blow, this is a good way of drying wet boards. The waste heat from the motor provides air that is warm but not hot enough to cook sensitive components, and the air has sufficient pressure to displace water from underneath ICs without risk of damaging anything. If necessary, you can use the corner nozzle to direct air between tightly-packed components.

I get that from my local pharmacy (what used to be called the 'chemists' years ago ) under the name citric acid monohydrate. Not only does it do a splendid job of de-scaling the kettle, it is also a lot cheaper than the many commercial products available in supermarkets which are intended to be used for that job.
But I've never tried it for the purposes described here in this thread . . . . yet.
