Default Regentone Multi 99 record player

Hi, I have bought a Regentone multi 99 auto table radio Gramophone.
There seems to be something missing of the deck idler wheel, as the idler pushes away from the motor drive., could anyone advise please.

Thanks.

This was originally fitted with a BSR Monarch deck. A photo or two would help to identify any missing items.

It'll be a BSR UA6, 3 speed. The idler wheel does not retract on these.

Just watch the restoration of the Regentone radiogram, it looks as if their is a spring missing on the idler mechanism., I have forgotten how to add a photo.

If you click "Post Reply" rather than using the quick reply box, there is a button marked "manage attachments" which allows you to add images or other attachments with permitted file types.

The idler wheel appears to be missing! If you've removed it for clarity, the other thing that's not there is the "jockey wire spring", see my pic:

You could put a post in the "wanted" section here for one from a scrapped deck.

But probably not too difficult to make your own!

Why did you remove the idler? These can easily be re-skimmed to be as good as when new.

I watched some of the Utube vids and have to say that the reception on my MULTI 99 has always been excellent. I have never totally rebuilt it as it seems pointless to me to change components that don't need changing. I changed that capacitor but that is really about all I have done to it. I have had it for 40+ years and took it with me when I went to Leeds on a course in the 80s. Another guy in the house share liked to listen to shortwave stations and had a radio with 5 or 6 shortwaves. Just for the hell of it onetime we attached the Regentone to the aeriel he had run down the garden then tried it to see what it would pick up. He finally said " I don't know why I bother with this(his radio) when you can pick up everything I can on that (the Regentone)". I don't think he was too happy but I was delighted
