Hacker cavalier GP15 stylus replacement.
A marvellous machine but feel a new stylus is called for as not replaced for at least 5 years. Have bought one (eo39)from Musonic, who were very forthcoming on info. as to what I needed, but not any after-help(!) and having come to removal/replacement realised haven't a Scooby how to go about it( all previous record players never got such attention)Anyone done one recently? (surely it must be really easy, not requiring removal of cartridge or anything like that?)

Re: Hacker cavalier gp15
What cartridge is fitted to the player, if not sure a photo would help. At this age of the player it’s possible it is not the original type fitted when new 50 years ago.

Re: Hacker cavalier gp15
Hi Frank, thanks for responding. Again bought it from musonic in Jan 2014. It's a 105 stereo cartridge copy made by Ronette. Ref. RON105. (pic)

Someone will post an answer, without the photo it would have been guesswork.

Re: Hacker cavalier GP15 stylus replacement.
The square section at the back end of the stylus is just a snap fit onto the cartridge body, so all you need to do is get a fingernail under one side of that square bit and just "ping" it off. To insert the new stylus, just clip in on to the cartridge, but make sure the two little "ears" at the front end of the stylus sits centrally on the little rubber block that protrudes form the cartridge.

Re: Hacker cavalier GP15 stylus replacement.
Great done it...thanks very much.....used a small screwdriver in the end as fingernail not working for me!(but principle same) Thanks...I kind of guessed that it bit would be simple but didn't want to risk it.Haven't used the forum for a long time since stopped collecting vintage(munny and space!) Forgot what a fine bunch of sincere, helpfully, and can I say clever lads(and lasses) use it. Will keep visiting again I think. All the best, Adam

Re: Hacker cavalier GP15 stylus replacement.
Bear in mind that these carts have a poor reputation for groove jumping owing to poor compliance. Search the forum if you want to read some members' experiences. If you feel the sound is poor, it may not be down to the stylus after all, and so might be better to replace that cart.
