How do I link to another post?
Hi there,
Despite looking for some time, I can't find any clues as to how to create a link to another thread. These appear in blue within people's posts. I can copy & paste the address but how to make it into a link? My friend is constantly astounded by my ineptitude in these matters Many thanks Nick |

Re: How do i link to another post?
The forum software will create a link if you just paste the URL. If you want the link to be shown as some custom text, click on the link icon at the top of the editor window (the little globe and chain) and add the link that way. If you experiment you'll soon see how it works.

What you actually have to enter is something like [url=http://www.example.co.uk/path/to/page]Custom Text[/url] .
(This post brought to you courtesy of the rarely-encountered but occasionally invaluable [noparse][/noparse] tags)

Re: How do i link to another post?
Ah, thank you. My error was that the copy and pasted URL only turns into a link when previewed or actually posted!
So just to test, I will link to this thread https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=134302 which will hopefully work! Thanks for the help Cheers Nick So that all works fine and I'm now trying the 'edit post' function for the first time as well- there's no stopping me now!! Thanks again. Re: How do i link to another post?
That link took me to a thread titled Pilot PT650 "Spacemaker" Television.
..... Hey! Did I see an s on the end of that protocol specifier? How long have we had an SSL (well, TLS nowadays) certificate?

Re: How do i link to another post?

Re: How do I link to another post?
The link button does most of the formatting work for you. You just have to retype the link caption, which defaults to the link itself.

Re: How do I link to another post?
I must admit that I had never spotted the link button, so I have always typed in the bbcode text manually, cutting and pasting the URL into the text as I go. My problem is that I usually find the icons on buttons (and elsewhere) meaningless - much preferring actual words The button would appear to reduce the effort needed, so I'll give it a try next time I need to insert a link.
