Hacker Cavalier Record Stacking
Hi. I have been on the forum before regarding the problem of the stacking of records on the Cavalier. After the 1st record has played each record after the tone arm does not make it to the record. Does this mean that The deck needs a complete overhaul? I have attached a link to a video I have done on YouTube. If it is not clear enough I can do another one. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Martin

Re: Hacker Cavalier Record Stacking
The problem seems to be that the deck thinks the second record is 10", rather than 7", which suggests the "flipper" which senses disc size (or its associated levers) is sticking.

Re: Hacker Cavalier Record Stacking
Presumably the flipper isn't operated by a 7" diameter record, so why would the player think a 10" record has been dropped onto the platter?

Re: Hacker Cavalier Record Stacking
Good Q, but the arm definitely looks like it's being precisely delivered to the 10" position (at 0'30" in the video).

Re: Hacker Cavalier Record Stacking
Sorry for delay in responding but thanks for commenting. It probably looks like I need to remove the deck and check the mechanism as there appears to be no direct reason for the issue.
Thanks Martin |

Re: Hacker Cavalier Record Stacking
I have had similar problems due to cables under the deck (motor or audio cables) not routed properly and interfering with the mechanism. But the most likely problem is hardened grease.

Re: Hacker Cavalier Record Stacking
There's loads of good advice in the Stickies above on servicing the Garrard "Autoslim" deck in your player.
