Hello folks. I'm new to the Forum so forgive me if I'm not strictly following the rules. My problem is a dial for my Bush DAC70. It is distorted by heat. Has anyone got a scan of the dial or a dial itself to help my restoration?
Many thanks.

And don't forget to replace the pygmy bulb with the smaller one for microwave oven cavity fitting or sewing machines, or it'll only melt again!

Hi there, I suppose it's a bit predictable really, but I also have a DAC70 which works great but has a burned tuning dial. I was wondering if anyone had a scanned copy of a good one they could let me have so that I can get the radio looking as good as it sounds.

Thanks, Richard

The original bulb needs to be positioned correctly or it will indeed melt the plastic. Unfortunately owners used to change this bulb themselves when it blew, and didn't refit it carefully enough, resulting in a knackered tuning scale. It's easy to get it wrong if you don't take the chassis out.

Using a smaller bulb as suggested by John will make dial damage less likely, as will increasing the size of the dropper resistor feeding the bulb (it is very bright with the original resistor). Some people have tried a diode in series with the bulb, which reduces heat dissipation but does tend to produce visible flicker.
