Default BBC 2 Trade Test Colour Films

I have just updated the list of BBC 2 trade test colour films on the BVWS 405-Alive website with a comprehensive list kindly supplied by Malcolm B.

http://www.bvws.org.uk/405alive/info...radefilms.html

Some of them sound more interesting than current programmes!

Great work!

Just a query about Giuseppina.

The action is described as taking place in the summer of 1966 but we also learn the film was 'made in 1959'.

Can this really be correct? As good an excuse as any to dig out my DVD copy and see if there's a date on the credits...

Steve

According to this site:-

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053866/

"Giuseppina" was made in 1960....

If you continue to post any queries here in the next few days I'll ask Malcolm to clarify at the weekend.

There is clearly a lot of work gone into compiling that lot (I was most impressed when I was adding it all), so the odd minor error is inevitable. It's good to get it completely correct.

Also if anyone can add any more info about the films, especially those with only minimal descriptions, that would be welcomed.

Hi Paul.
These films were really great, as a boy I always watched them and unknown to my dad our Defiant TV fed from our British Relay "Relaydapta" would show BBC2 with the line hold adjusted!
Are these films available on DVD and from where?
Trevor

I'd love to have a copy of the trade test films if they are obtainable.

I remember watching the test films from BP and Shell on our rented DER, which I believe was a 19" Thorn with a thumbwheel volume control and rocker on/off switch. And always thought they where more entertaining than when the BBC2 programs started, they became very boring after that!

One website tha might be wirth a look is www.tvdays.com though I have only had a brief look at what they have.

such a pity that we do not have websites like this where you can buy say a dvd of adverts or tv shows yes some stuff is available but not in quantity, I have spent the last year collecting this type of British tv stuff and its been very hard work indeed

We had many years of good service from the set and DER until around the early seventies when the set went wrong and a replacement, without a protection window in front of the tube, was loaned to us, it gave electric shocks when touched and went wrong within a month (nothing to do with you I am sure HamishBoxer ). By then I had learnt a bit about tv's and managed to buy a second hand Bush TV125 and after a few repairs including a tube replacement, with protective panel, it lasted for two years before being replaced by a colour set (which I still have after 33 years).
