Default BVWS Can Electrolytics

Does anyone know if the can of these is internally connected to anything? They come in a nice plastic bright blue coloured sleeve that isn't very age-appropriate for most vintage radios and it occured to me that it might be possible to remove the sleeve leaving a plain aluminium case. It's true you lose all the marking, but it would be an alternative to re-stuffing the original.

Just checked one for you and it is not isolated (the can).

Normally states. This was a Bush DAC90 cap.

Just had a look at one I bought from the BVWS stand, a 32/32 500V, and without taking the blue sleeve off its impossible to tell, the sleeve returns over both ends and the base has a black plastic cover on it, but it would be easy to isolate the bare can if necessary with some clear plastic which a lot of old caps had as supplied.

Thanks both. If there's a chance that the can could be floating up around HT then I'd rather leave it wrapped up!

"Can Not Isolated" caps generally mean there is no deliberate connexion to any pin just that it is in the wet bit, they (the cans) don't mind being at 0V.

In fact Richard,if you are careful you cut the blue wrapper off except for a bit covered by the clamp with a slight overlap to make sure the can is isolated.

Best of both worlds!

PS They are top quality caps as are the others from BVWS
