Default Philips AG1006 turntable

This turntable is based on the AG1000, the only external difference seems to be the red coloured turntable.

This one came to me minus the jockey wheel and its levers.

I managed to find an AG1000 and used the parts from there.

The record player now works and does all the functions it should bar one fault.

When in automatic mode, the record drops, the arm moves over to the start of the record position but before it drops, it moves back around ΒΌ" so doesnt drop on the record.

I cannot see why this happens but found a slight difference between the AG1000 & the AG1006. See pictures

This is the 1006

Note the extension lever on the 1000 which is not on the 1006.

Does anyone know what the cause of my fault is?
