Unusual wind up lamp
l've been given this lamp to look at, it looks like a very early wind up one, anyone know anything about it?

Re: Unusual wind up lamp
That's certainly a natty piece of kit which was very forward thinking at the time & must have been quite powerful to light a filament bulb.
My better half has a modern version with LED bulbs. Rog |

Re: Unusual wind up lamp
Yes that's definitely it. Well discovered! l will see if l can get it to work.
lnside looks like a clockwork mechanism so presumably you pull the cord to wind it up and then it delivers light for a short time until the spring winds down. Not bad for over 100 years ago. Will be interesting to see how much light it delivers, no LED's back then |

Interesting thing, I think you'd have to be in a war situation to appreciate it!

Re: Unusual wind up lamp
Many of the older dynamo or wind up lights use an E10 bulb of much lower wattage than norm for battery operation.
A once common type was E10 2.5 volt 60ma, perhaps surprisingly these are still available. https://www.cp-lighting.co.uk/11X24-2-5V-0-15W-60mA-E10 |
