Default Pye 1022 turntable - what cartridge?

Hi, I've just joined . . .
My Pye Black Box 1022 has a BSR P128 Professional 4-speed turntable but is missing its cartridge. It seems to be a slide-in module that should have 4 sprung tabs to connect to the 4 tabs on the arm.
Can anybody tell me what cartridge I should be looking for?
Many thanks
Ian

It sounds as if your P128 has lost its slide-out cartridge carrier. This is a BSR part and you can't fit a cartridge without it. Somebody may have one from a scrap deck - I think the same carrier was used on some other BSR decks, but I'm not a BSR expert.

Picture of the part you're missing (albeit broken!) here: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...7&d=1658495819

This site in the US appears to have them, but they're not cheap - probably cheaper to buy a complete Black Box: https://www.turntableneedles.com/tur...dshells_wiring

Thank you all very much for the tips. Looking at pictures of Garrard cartridge sleds/holders, I might need a C1. I've uploaded some pics of the holder as attachments here.

A Garrard type will NOT fit. It has to be a BSR one.

Is it a BSR or a Garrard deck..there's 3 sleds on that site for a BSR that look similar.

You need a BSR cartridge holder - not a Garrard. I think the same arm was fitted to the MP60, HT70 and the 610. You can see a picture at

https://www.thestyluslady.co.uk/bsr-...647-1420-p.asp

but it is currently out of stock.

Once you have a cartridge holder you can fit a suitable cartridge. I had one of these players many years ago and I thought it used a Goldring G800 moving magnet cartridge but all the pictures that I can find show a ceramic cartridge so I may well have mis-remembered.

BSR used the same cut-out for most of their turntables so, if you can't find the cartridge holder for your turntable, you can replace the turntable with another BSR turntable.

Philips in Australia had a very similar system.

That looks like a ceramic cart with a flip-over stylus. Someone is likely to recognise it.

Hi
That cartridge looks like a BSR C1 ceramic.

Yes, that¡s a C1 ceramic and the carrier /slide is the right one.

Judging by the online pics, that looks like what the player would originally have come with. The OP should consider himself very lucky!
