AVO EM272 multimeter
Just acquired one of these in working condition except that the meter needle sticks around 40% fsd. It returns following a gentle tap on the casing.
Lots of tips on the forum about what might cause this but before I dive in can anyone advise the correct procedure for dismantling the case/pcb/etc to access the meter movement? TIA Roger G4BZI |

Re: AVO EM272 multimeter
It's been quite a while since I disassembled an EM272.
As I remember it was fairly straight forward and logical. See attached, which are Avo's fairly limited instructions on disassembly. Same procedure for all the 70 Series Multimeters. Ian |

Re: AVO EM272 multimeter
Ian,
Thanks for this useful info. Disassembly went OK. I found what looked like a rust deposit on the inside of the meter magnet that was obstructing coil movement. Scraped away using the tip of a hypodermic needle and blew out the debris with compressed air. Meter now working fine. Thanks again. Roger |
