B4 valve holders abroad?
Hi,
A while ago I was given this bit of homerew kit that a neighbour of mine found at the local 'dechetterie' or tip. It's some sort of power unit, but on the top is an unmarked British four pin valve holder as an output socket. I'm just wondering if they were much used outside the UK, if at all? Europe preferred side contact holders back then. The rest of the components have a 'continental' look about them apart from the Bulgin pointer knob. Cheers, Pete.

Re: B4 valve holders abroad?
I don't think side contact bases existed much before mid '30s, by which time 4-pin (B4 or other) bases were pretty much obsolete except for a few popular types and replacement stock. Before then 4-pin in kite format in Europe inc GB and UX format stateside were pretty much universal until you get back to really early types when more or less anything went.
