Default Capacitor info please

Hi.
Can someone tell me if these are Tantalum or Solid aluminium.

I've seen solid aluminium ones that colour, but I've no idea if that colour was exclusive to them. Is there any manufacturer's marking?

Almost anything of the right value that will physically fit in the same space will do the job. Modern, ordinary electrolytics are electrically as good as, and physically no larger than, older "special" capacitors.

It'll be a Philips tantalum, the fat leg is the +ve

Anything will do so long as the circuit doesn't need a super low leakage type.

If it is one of these, it is a Vishay 128 sal-rpn solid aluminium radial pearl miniature capacitor.

The best course of action, is to have a look at the printing. Philips (now Vishay BC) most of the time printed the series-number, so it can be looked up in the data books. I would guess solid aluminium, but there is a chance it might be tantalum. 128 as said, is for solid aluminium, some other numbers may as well.
