Default Russian Oscilloscope CRT Electrode Structures?

Hi!

Just a quickie one!

Can anyone tell me why Russian Instrument CRTs have such a large number of intermediate anodes, not counting the final anode, X & Y deflection-plates, I.P.S., Geometry Correction Electrodes, etc., shown on their data sheets?

I've seen up to twenty intermediate electrodes on some Russian CRT data-sheets!

Most British/Continental oscilloscope CRTs have no more than three/four anodes, plus I.P.S., Geometry, X & Y plates, etc.

Should I copy the Russian symbol in my SPlan when designing my own symbol, or can all these innumerable electrodes be whittled down to the more usual number, with an explanatory note stating the symbol is shown simplified?

Hi Chris, there may be some detail in the Parr & Davie CRT book, but a lot of UK tubes had several electrodes coupled internally and sharing the same pin.

I do have that book, but it doesn't show any CRT with more than three anodes, (four if the CRT is p.d.a. type), but even allowing for commoned electrodes on one pin, blanking grids, I.P.S. , Geom, etc., there still seems a baffling number of anodes in Russian CRTs all brought to separate pins whose purpose is far from obvious!
