Revox B710 only plays ½ a tape
After working on a B710 which had a partially seized RH capstan motor shaft, all works properly except that after about ½ of a 30-min tape the machine stops. I’m wondering if it could be a problem with pinch wheels.
Any ideas?

Re: Revox B710 only plays ½ a tape
Is it maintaining true tape speed and then going to stop suddenly, or does tape speed first start to slow, wow etc? What was the initial symptom?

Re: Revox B710 only plays ½ a tape
Tape seems to play normally then just stops. The initial symptom was that the RH capstan didn't run at all because the bearing was stiff. If I adjust the pinch roller tension a little (maybe half a turn) it makes a difference to how far through the tape it gets.
I'll be trying some other tapes tomorrow to see if it's a faulty cassette.

It isn’t a faulty cassette.

It could of course be a faulty pinch roller.
