The autumn BVWS Biggleswade Meet will run on Sunday September 14th 2025. Doors open at 0930. There will be a large BVWS sales stall, the usual Dulwich Museum Bring & Buy, and lots of other fascinating stalls selling everything you can imagine. Bargains galore. Hot and cold refreshments are available all day. Do come if you can. All welcome.
Some event details will appear in the Autumn BVWS Bulletin, and are also available via the events pages on the BVWS website: www.bvws.org.uk. The Weatherley Centre (SG18 8JH) has some off-street parking right by the hall, and free on-street parking very close by. It is located only a mile from either of the two Biggleswade exit roundabouts on the A1. Train services are excellent (under an hour from London), and the station is a 12 minute walk from the hall. STALLS: If you want to book a stall, the printable booking form is downloadable from: https://www.bvws.org.uk/ (link appears on the front page). You can also book via email with bank transfer. My email is at the bottom of page 3 of the latest Bulletin, or PM me here. If you want a specific table location then please book with details as early as possible, and I will do what I can. I normally put repeat bookings in the same place if possible, unless you request otherwise. (Biggleswade is normally a sell-out so please book early to avoid disappointment!). VERY IMPORTANT - PARKING. Weatherley Centre have introduced an ANPR (automated number plate recognition) system for the parking by the hall, to deter casual parking. Everyone visiting the BVWS event is still entitled to free parking (if available) in the hall car park. You must register your car number plate at the front desk as you arrive, using a QR code. (also available in the hall). For non smartphone users there will be a tablet available. Parking on the road is also still free (no ANPR). Do not park elsewhere on the school site as you may be booked. Full details are at the end of this page of Weatherley information: https://www.theweatherleycentre.co.uk/frequently-asked-questions If you have to park on the road and you drive up to the hall at the end to collect purchases, you do not need to register if you are less than 15 minutes. If you need longer, you must register inside. I hope to see lots of you at "Biggles" in September! all the best -Jeremy

Only 3 tables left now so if you fancy clearing some of your surplus items, jump in quickly!
(PM or email me). See you all in 4 weeks' time. -Jeremy

Just in case you're in two minds about travelling to Biggleswade, there's a good Steam & Country Fair, just 4 miles away on the 12th, 13th and 14th September at Old Warden Park, home of the Shuttleworth aircraft collection.
The website says that the entry fee to the Steam Fair also gives you access to the aircraft collection and country house. https://bseps.org.uk/rally/#attractions Why not come and make a weekend of it? But obviously come to The Biggleswade Meet on the Sunday! SR (No connection with Old Warden or BSEPS and I offer this as helpful local information only. Not the opportunity to start discussions on aeroplanes or traction engines) Last edited by Stuart R; 24th Aug 2025 at 7:39 pm. Reason: Added warning. |

Tables (getting on for 50) were sold out more than a week ago so it should be a packed event.
If you haven't come to a BVWS meet before, why not give it a go! All welcome. See you next Sunday! -Jeremy

Another very pleasant day at the Weatherly Centre, catching up with friends and actually re-homing some items. Many of the older members (that includes me!) were hoping not to take home heavy items, and many of us were successful in this - hooray!!
Apart from the false fire alarm all seemed to go very smoothly, so many thanks to Jeremy and all the BVWS team. Looking forward to Royal Wootton Bassett already Ian Blackbourn |

Well, that was another Grand Day Out… I have to say the meet had a Harpenden feel to it… Agree…, thanks go out to all the hard workers in the BVWS.
I got the small Red Dulci Crystal set on the BVWS stall… It’s a bit of curio…, lets hope with good aerial and earth I can get a decent signal from Caroline a few miles up the coast, and a nice (thanks Mike) Decca Debonaire Deluxe also on the BVWS stall. Picked up for £1 on the BECG stall what looks to be something homemade and RF (could be low power CW transmitter?) with a crystal holder (no crystal), two 6BA6’s, couple of coils, beehive trimmer and a mains transformer, I primarily got this for the chassis and mains transformer for a odd-ball project. A home brew stereo 5-10 chassis liberated of transformers... as if I need another project ![]() And finally an ECL80… don’t ask ![]() Met new member Mort1965 for a quick natter. Terry |

With that valve lineup, more likely to be a converter.

Please leave the discussions about the interesting mystery device for a new thread in the appropriate section now, so it isn't lost in this one.
