A reminder that before we know it - the BVWS North West Swapmeet will soon be upon us on Sunday 26th October.
If you'd like a stall contact organiser Mark Ryding to book. You can download a stallholders booking form via the BVWS website, visitors pay at the door £5 entry. Stall holder booking form: https://www.bvws.org.uk/download/GOL_Oct25.pdf Doors open at 9.30 (stall holders 9.00). The usual variety of stalls selling vintage Radio, Television, Audio, Communications receivers, Test gear, Valves, Components, Spares, etc. Ample free parking. The BVWS stall will be there selling the usual range of capacitors, Deoxit, etc. And the kitchen will be open serving drinks and hot and cold butties! If you have one or two items you'd like to sell, the 'Bring and Buy' stall is where you can sell them at 10% commission or donation to the BVW&TV Museum. (But before you leave, please take any unsold items home, including donated items - we were left with a car load of stuff to dispose of last year..) The BVWS stores are bursting at the seams again, so there'll be a huge variety of bargains overflowing from the tables, everything must go! If you're not a BVWS member, why not come along for a sample visit? You'll be made most welcome and you can even take the plunge and join on the day if you like what you see! Credit/debit card payments taken at the BVWS stall. Location/Directions: https://www.bvws.org.uk/events/locations.php See you there....

Dave Moll, who usually runs the Bring & Buy Table is unavailable this time. I'm pleased to say that he's not unwell, just that he has another engagement booked - we'll miss you this time Dave!
Is anyone else happy to run the table? It's a nice service to offer if we can do it and it raises a couple of bob for the BVW&TV Museum too. Please let me know. Thanks in anticipation. There's still a couple of table spaces available, so contact Mark Ryding if you'd like a stall. See you there...

Thanks for those kind words, Greg. The feeling is mutual in that I was gutted when I realised that my other commitment meant that I would miss Golborne.
If anyone might consider it but is unsure about anything, please let me know and I'll try to give reassurance. I could also post copies of the files I use to print labels.

Good evening,
I could lend a hand on the B&B stall for a bit if needed. Christopher Capener

Thank you Christopher, we'll see what we can sort out on Sunday morning. If someone else offers maybe a couple of you could run it between you...

I'll be there as usual although, due to an ongoing issue with a trapped nerve, I won't be buying anything heavy! Might save me a few bob!
If you stop and talk to me, you might be seconded into carrying that AR88 I've got an eye on...

Thanks for all time and effort that everyone puts into this event, it's always great!
I couldn't lift anything heavy so I had to buy four small radio's instead of one large one, turns out the cost is about the same! Thanks again.

As ever, a very good event for a modestly sized venue and it's easy to lose several hours in there, especially when chatting!
There were some absolute bargains to be had on the BVWS stall with many lovely radios in good condition at knockdown prices. It's abundantly clear that supply far exceeds demand, which is sad but I suppose inevitable as time marches on. Personally I get a lot of fun from running unloved 1950s AM-only 'woodies' with a pantry transmitter and appreciating the fine sound quality many of them are capable of. Thanks to all whose efforts make this a very worthwhile and enjoyable event. Steve |

Big thanks to Christopher Capener and Gabriel for grabbing the baton and running the Bring and Buy stall in Dave Molls' absence.
The event was busy - better attendance than the April meeting, which is reassuring! Thanks to Mark Ryding for organising the stall bookings, Eileen for taking the entrance money, Mike & Jim for bringing a van load and everyone else who supported the event by visiting, stall holding and helping us load/unload, it was a great day out..

It was the first BVWS event I've been to for a long time, maybe since Harpenden!
I thoroughly enjoyed the day. It was nice to wander around putting faces to names. Thankfully I only saw one TV, and managed to resist temptation, coming away with six radios, a 1930s Ekco battery eliminator and a smoothing cap from the BVWS stall instead. Thank you to all those involved, I won't leave it so long until next time!

Well the usual: I didn't intend to purchase anything, which lasted to approximately a split second after I went through the door. Not long after that I was comprehensively skint but came away with some very nice items, very happy. Thanks as always to Mike, Jim, Greg and Russell for the BVWS contingent, and all the stallholders for giving their time for us "punters". Had we gone in my (much larger) car, I dread to think what I might have ended up with
![]() Oh and also the ladies in the kitchen whose delicious and reasonably priced fare makes the whole experience even better!
