Tantel Prestel Data Adaptor
Following a member reading an old thread i created asking for anything Prestel related products , he sent me this Tantel Prestel Data Adaptor.
Made in around 1984/85 by Tangarine products in UK . Im actually hoping to link it up to the Telstar Videotext service run by one of the forum members here. Still looking for anything Prestel related also .

Re: Tantel Prestel Data Adaptor
I've one of those too, but I couldn't find any output from it when I linked it up to a TV set, so it was tucked away to return to another day. Perhaps I should try to schedule that "other day" before too long. I too would like to try hooking up to Telstar.

Re: Tantel Prestel Data Adaptor
Mine has output as i ran it up this morning , shows a good steady screen with all the tel numbers that were programmed into it .
Next job is to replace the huge old GPO Jack plug for a modern BT plug.

By the way, it's good to know what sort of a display to expect if it do find the output signal.

Re: Tantel Prestel Data Adaptor
I just used my little JVC unit with manual tuning knob , i find i can dial in most things very quickly than using auto tune/scan .
I never thought about a 96A , will look online thank you. I do like to keep originality if possible.

Re: Tantel Prestel Data Adaptor
Diagram N4410 (on Sam Hallas's site) shows how that Jack 96A is wired. Unless you want to have a telephone which is disconnected when the Prestel set connects to the line, it appears you connect one line wire to 3,4,5 (all strapped) and the other to 2
