Vintage GPO 1970 Telephone No 746 Pax 68/1
I purchase a GPO 1970 telephone from Ebay which had been converted. The phone worked fine for about a month, but now not working. I cant ring out or receive calls. When i pick up the receiver it makes allot of white noise but when i start dialling a number the noise disappears but the noise come back as soon as i have finish dialling.
I used my mobile phone to test if i could receive incoming calls. The phone didn't ring, But when i picked up the handset/receiver i could hear a ringing tone as if your waiting for a call to be answered. Also when i replace the receiver down it doesn't make that bell sound any more Any ideas what the problem could be? |

As Russell says. Remove the Broadband filter (and the router) and see if you get Dial Tone. If not, then check continuity of the telephone cord to the socket. If that fails , check for any loose screws and terminations in the telephone, and check for any dry soldered joints.

Check the continuity of the bell coils from the plug.
