Connecting Bell set Type 64D
Could anyone help by providing instructions as to how to connect a Bell Set 64D to my existing telephone circuit. Ideally I would like to plug it in via a double adaptor in the room where my candlestick 'phone lives.
Many thanks in anticipation of your guidance. Geoff.

Re: Connecting Bell set Type 64D
Pin 3 of BT socket (usually blue; alternative red) → one end of bell coils
Other end of bell coils → Pin 5 of BT socket (usually white; alternative black) Assuming the candlestick has no internal ringing device, it's OK to use a double adaptor downstream of the ADSL filter (the ringing capacitor in which will only let through enough current to ring one bell).

Re: Connecting Bell set Type 64D
Thanks for that Julie, I will have a play during next week. Off to a car show, complete with wellies, tomorrow so I won't have much chance until later in the week. If I run into trouble I hope you won't mind if I pick your brains a little further.
Best Wishes and thanks again, Geoff.

Re: Connecting Bell set Type 64D
No worries.
Also, strictly speaking, it's a Bell 64D. A Bellset includes an induction coil. [doffs geeky glasses]

Re: Connecting Bell set Type 64D
But my geeky hat is bigger than yours!
What about a 'Bellset 26' - that doesn't have an induction coil in it. Nor does a 'Bellset No 7, No 20, No 39, No 39A, No 39C, No 41, No 44, No 50A, No 50C or 50D' come to that Better definition is 'a bellset includes other components in addition to the bell' . Must rush - got to place bid on a 'Bellset 1A' |

Re: Connecting Bell set Type 64D
What's more, just to add to the confusion, some of the above (e.g. no. 44) don't even include the bell!

Re: Connecting Bell set Type 64D
Thanks for the offer - I was only joking.
The only one I've bought lately looked like a 'Bell 1A' but was described as 'Vintage extension bell converted and ready to plug in' but it was in fact a 'Bellset No 8' when I looked a lot closer at the pictures - just what I needed for my Tele 72 ! |
