There may well be HMV and Ferguson versions of this.

There was certainly an Ultra version of this set; my Grandad had one. It was in a glossy white cabinet, with fluted aluminium knobs and a slightly posher BSR changer with a super-slim headshell into which an SC12H clipped directly.

The Ferguson has the changer I remember from my Grandad's Ultra. The cabinet was white as opposed to woodgrain, but it had the same knobs and the same layout with the glass and metal bits.

It was an excellent performer on gram and radio. Though, he lived in Cannock, and got a good, strong signal from Sutton Coldfield.

I thought that it was only the first number that changed when a model was shared between Ultra, Ferguson and Marconiphone. So a Ferguson 3457 would be an Ultra 6457 and the Marconiphone version would be 4457. The ferguson 3457 is based on the BRC series 78.
