Hi folks
Just a quick question about a bsr ua 14 deck I'm about to start dealing with in a dansette monarch I'm restoring. My deck (pictured) seems to be missing the tonarm rest clip and the associated hinge assembly. See attachment I've found pictures online of the same deck that show a metal clip attached to a plastic hinge at the back of the tonarm rest. See attachment Mine has neither the clip not the hinge it is supposed to be attached to. On inspection, it doesn't appear to be broken. Did some of these decks come without a clip? Thank you Gabriel |

Some had a wire clip that fitted into the two holes in the arm rest it is often missing.

On some you may find if you press it down hard on to the rest, it will stay in situ. Otherwise just make one from a large paper clip.

As you say, yours appears never to have had a clip, or be designed to accept one. |

More or less, Nick
I could make a paper clip tonarm rest clip, but there is nowhere on the tonarm rest to attach this to. As you can see in the last picture, the metal clip is supposed to be attached to a circular 'hinge' at the back of the stand. Mine doesn't have one (and there is no evidence of any breakages) The 2 holes on the sides are not correctly oriented for the clip so cannot be used, unless I'm missing something obvious |

I don't think you're missing anything, either physically or mentally! It's just a clipless design, which probably proved less than satisfactory and was improved by adding a traditional wire clip in later production.
