Default Newbury Radio Rally 2015, Sunday June 21st

This is always an excellent rally, all outdoors on a large site next to the A34 / M4 junction.

Full details here:

Note the roadworks diversion:

Hopefully if the weather is good I am going to try and get there. The first time I have been to this event.

I plan on visiting: and will be identifiable by my wearing an Aussie-style leather hat.

I plan on visiting for the first time. Never made this one before.

They give the postcode for your satnav as RG189BB - IT APPEARS TO BE WRONG! My Tom Tom won't even accept that postcode.

Royal Mail says that's not applicable any more and offers RG189QZ which does appear to locate the showground ok.

Best check for yourself if you've never been there before.

The main thing is to take the correct (immediate) left turn after taking the Northbound exit from the roundabout. If you miss it, you will end up on the A34 with quite a detour to get back.

As mentioned above, the website now indicates that the roadworks are finished.

I dropped by and scavenged.

Three Jackson-bros "C804" 160pF variable capacitors for a pound each; some similar mil-spec variants at 50p for 50pF.

A handful of "Clansman"-type power-connectors for 50p each.

Best score was valves: a couple of new-in-box 5B/255M for £1 each [now I only need to source some bases] and a complete lineup of Philips-in-white-boxes [UAF42/UCH42/UL41/UY41] bottles for my Eddystone 840A for £15.
