Mains transformer (Murphy A146CM)
Hello to all. I am in the process of rewinding (waiting for copper wire) the mains transformer from this Murphy A146CM radio. On dismantling transformer, I noticed that the E-I laminations were attached in twos. Ie. 2 Es together, then 2 Is. I was wondering whether there is a reason for this, as I would prefer (?) to re-attach them individually. Ie. one E, one I, then one I, one E. I hope that makes sense. Thanks in advance. All the best. John.

Re: mains transformer (Murphy A146CM)
Hi John, sometimes done like this in production or with a machine to save time, Sometimes groups of up to 5.
No difference if stacked individually, but make sure you keep the gaps where E & I butt as small as possible. Ed |
