Harpenden 19th October
Harpenden is less than 4 weeks away. As usual I'll be running the Bring & Buy stall in the foyer. This is meant for folks who want to sell just a few items, usually of relatively low value. 10% commission goes to the Vintage Wireless Museum. We also welcome donations of equipment where 100% of the money raised goes to the Museum.
I hope that some of you will volunteer to help on the stall, even if only for short periods. The stall opens for entries as soon as the hall is open or when we get our act together, whichever is later. Closes at 1pm, before the auction. Sellers must collect any unsold stuff by then - we don't like disposing of stuff and we certainly don't take any responsibility for uncollected stuff. This thread is also the place to remind ourselves of things to bring for other members. Cross reference to Forum Courier Service as required. Subject to space, you can leave items here for collection by other members. |

Re: Harpenden 19th October
I am planning to collect a Bush Radio Cabinet from Howard at Harpenden on Sunday. Does this have to be collected by/before any specific time, and, is the Swapmeet open to non BVWS Members?

Re: Harpenden 19th October
Harpenden is only open to BVWS members but you can join at the door. In theory you can call and collect something without being a member but you are not allowed beyond the foyer. Howard can leave the cabinet with me on the B&B stall in the foyer but please make sure you collect it before 1pm. If you don't, we will dispose of it and not be happy.

Re: Harpenden 19th October
Just got home from my first Harpenden visit with a haul of a HMV 441, a Selena 215, a couple of books and some capacitors. Just missed out on a nice Pye PE80 in the auction, I wish I'd put in a higher bid now, oh well.
Bumped into Howard, Jeffrey (pppenguin) and Sean (Williams), hello chaps. I had a good day and I'll definitely try to attend the next BVWS event. John |

Re: Harpenden 19th October
It was a great day. Met many friends and made some new ones. Jeffrey managed to dispose of a few odd items for me but despite all promises managed to return with a Ferguson table top gram of 1950 vintage..I was worried. November the 5th is not far away and I'd rather rescue a nice servicable Ferguson gram and cast a few round Ekco's and Bush TV22's to the flames instead.. J.

Re: Harpenden 19th October
Good to catch up with Tas and Mikey405 today.
I got shot of some stuff on the 'bring and buy' and came home with some nice new high voltage caps, a box of old 'Trannies' and a beautiful 'Ferranti 146', apparentley working... but after a sneaky-peek inside I've decided not to even put it near a mains socket ! ! ! A nice winter warmer though, it'll be the first radio I've done for years. Dr. Dave

Re: Harpenden 19th October
I had quite a good day, met a few people and shifted a few bulky items, bought a few small bits. Didn't get involved with the auction but prices seemed low, I think a DAC90A went for £10. I wish I had turned on the radio a few minutes earlier on the way home, I could have avoided the hour and a half jam on the M25! Still a good day out.

Re: Harpenden 19th October
Thanks to Peter and Edward for helping on a very busy Bring & Buy. Thanks also to all those who generously donated stuff to raise funds for the Museum. We raised over £200 so Gerry will be very pleased.

Re: Harpenden 19th October
Great day out apart from locking my car keys in the boot. I came away with a Sunburst Pye radio, Newnes radio/tv servicing book, some new caps and a couple of variacs.
