Default BVWS GOLBORNE Swapmeet 18th November

Hi All,

The year is rushing by at a super fast pace and it will soon be time for the BVWS Golborne radio meeting.

The usual BVWS tables will be there filled to the brim with lots of goodies from the store.
This time there will be a larger than usual amount of Eddystone equipment, with receivers and other sundries from a big radio ham collection.
We will also have a good number of boxes of components etc.

The BVWS books and Capacitor stock will also be available for anyone wishing to stock up for their Winter restorations.

The usual 405/625 Line Vintage TV display will be running, this time with a few different sets not seen out before.

If you would like to bring along a working TV for display, then please do!

Stall bookings are on the up for this event, so come along and have a great day out!

Venue:-

Golborne Parkside Sports & Community Club.
Rivington Avenue, Golborne, Warrington, WA3 3HG.

Opening times: Stallholders entry 9:00 am.
General entry 10:00 am.

See you there.

Mike.

Guidance requested...

I have not been to a BVRS meeting, I am not a member (yet) but wondering whether I should see if I should attend the Golborne one with the intention of reducing my assortment of TVs, test gear, components, HiFi etc (nothing is over 40 years old). These things have attached themselves to me over many years but I am slowly coming to the realisation that I dont know why I keep them. The last event I went to was a Radio Rally about 20 years ago so I am a bit out of touch.

Are stalls intended for traders really? Although I could fill a van are there any guidelines as to what private individuals can and cannot do etc. If I was sensible I suppose I should just go to Golborne to see what its about and then if relevant take a stall at the next one. Thanks for any advice.

Well, let's say that being a BVWS member does not matter at our do's. So do please come along!

If you want a stall, send me your E-Mail by PM and we'll get that sorted.

Cheers,

Steve P.

Re #5:

I'm not entireley sure how the BVWS runs it's stall holder policy, but a chat with Mike Barker (Murphymad) would be a good start.

As far as I know, anyone willing to pay for a stall would be welcomed, but at this late date, availability might well be a problem.

In the norm, "Traders" is a generic term applied to stallholders, both privateers thinning a collection, and those professionally engaged in buying and selling as a business.

I hope this helps answer your questions.

Cheers
Sean

Hi

Is the BVWS GOLBORNE Swapmeet open to non members of BVWS?

However my main interest is not with Vintage radio (the oldest radio I have is an FT726R), but oldish (1960's to 1990's, so not quite vintage!) electronic test equipment.

I think it should be interesting to nose around the exhibits, as well as the traders offerings, and as I only live around the corner it could be an oportunity to see how the other half live

Regards

peter

Could I ask those attending to put some sort of name label on themselves, please?

I know I forgot last time but I often find later that there are folk on here who I would like to meet and missed them.

My facial recognition is sometimes a bit slow as well.

Hope to see many of you on Sunday.

Yes, for all that it is a BVWS event non-members are welcome.

For all those that were at the Golborne scope demo I've sent out an electronic handout in pdf format to the email address on the "attendance sheet". If you don't receive a copy let me know.

Keith

Notes received, thank you. As Mark has said your presentation was excellent. Not only informative but also enjoyable. It was also very nice to meet other Forum members and put faces to names. Quite a long journey, but well worth it.

Best wishes Don

Excellent turnout, plus the nice sunny weather was a bonus.

There seemed to me many more members than last year there, though a few less stalls.

Keith's talk was excellent.

Flattery will get you anywhere, Mike

I'm glad you, and everyone else who came along, enjoyed it.

Problem was I didn't get to see all the stalls. By the time I'd finished most had started packing up.

Another great day out amongst kindred spirits. Many thanks to Mark, Mike, Keith and everyone who came along just to browse and chat. Looking forward to the next one. Steve.
