Megger BR3 Testing Set
Now this is an interesting piece of Equipment.
Has anybody used one of these in Anger? Basic instructions for use are attached in the Lid, but does anybody have a copy of the proper User Manual for it? I'm also looking for a Service Manual ? I have one of these where the Circular Meter doesn't seem to Zero, so before I start fiddling. Would like to have a play around with this, but would like to know what I'm doing first. Ian |

Re: Megger BR3 Testing Set
Hi Ian, these were often used by electricity boards to check the location of cable fault and leakage.
I believe, from memory, that they may have had accessory sets to go with them so the could work up to 11KV Ed |

Re: Megger BR3 Testing Set
Thanks Ed,
I need to read up on the Varley and Murray Test theory. I can see how to connect up and use the Set, but I can't admit to understanding it yet. That's why I was hoping somebody might have a User Manual for it. Those normally have the basic methodology surrounding the Device in question. I have opened it up, and it is very well built and seems to be little more than a bunch of Wire Wound Bobins and Switches. I guess that's all a Bridge is anyway. A Service Manual or Circuit would be handy to check the Values. Not being regular Resistor Types, there don't appear to be any markings identifying their values. Might make any calibration or repair challenging. Ian |
