WW2 Tank personnel Headphones and Microphone No7 set
Took a trip to the National Arms and Militaria fair on Sunday at the National Motorcycle museum Birmingham and picked up a WW2 British Tank Headset and No7 microphone for a few pounds .
Ive found a bit of information about them but was wondering if anyone knew what sort of Transmitter/receiver they would have been used with and even the types of Tank they may have been used in. |

It's used with a Wireless Set 19. There is vast amounts of info on-line on the WS 19.

That looks like the Canadian WS19 headset.

Re: WW2 Tank personel Headphones and Microphone No7 set
That is actually an American made 19-Set headgear assembly, built for their Mk II production. Their cable looms always have the red/white/blue tracer run on them. Canadian were Khaki Tan and the mic would be a ‘No.7 Cdn’ marked item.
All are fully interchangeable, however. David |

The microphone and the headphones use a voice coil and a cone.
I have heard there is a yahoo group of WS 19 set people. The sets were used in a wide variety of settings. In a tank, the set was also the intercommunication system. Because of the noise high fidelity microphones and earphones were essential.

The WS19 forum is now on Groups.io, they moved from Yahoo due to poor service. There are over 2000 members and the forum covers all types of military radio, not just the WS19.

The WS19 Group also has a very comprehensive document archive. The documents are password protected, and you have to follow the instructions to get at them accurately. In particular you have to have a 'paid for' email address, not a free one. Some folk love to moan, but I've never has a problem following the simple rules.

Was the microphone a carbon mic?

Re: WW2 Tank personel Headphones and Microphone No7 set
The set of headgear for the tank was a dynamic type. However the
microphone (Hand No.3) which part of the WS 19 gear package was carbon, and was of the remote (over wires) operating station.
