Hi Lee, welcome. I remember back in the day we used to call them as FBR's (f****** big radios!)

Welcome to the forum Lee, some great people on here.
I have a soft spot for these as well having bought a Sharp GF9090 from Littlewoods MOC in the late 70s. Gave much pleasure.
I have to say that despite the huge size of some of them back then modern similar devices actually sound a lot better from a much smaller box!
However for sheer lack of practical portability you can’t beat my VX2000.

Welcome to the forum. Ah those late 70's, early 80's boomboxes, 10 worth of D size batteries for an hour hanging about in bus stops annoying folk. "What? you don't like Iron Maidan played at earsplitting volume missus?"

Andy.
