Hi Den,

the VCR97 is an ex radar tube - green phosphor with electrostatic deflection - Most famous use was in the indicator type 62a as used with the Gee navigation system.

I think the cossor tube is a 3" one? again used in military equipment....

Cheers
Sean

the 89D is an early double beam scope tube.

Hi Den, the VCR 97 was very popular with the home built TV people of the 50's, I've still got the parts from mine. It also made a good scope, much bigger than most of the commercial ones available at the time.
The Cossor tube is a true dual beam device and I believe was fitted to the 1035 scope. Quite a long persistace if I remember with a blue trace.

Hi Den,

Strange, I was just doing that this evening.......

Ok,

4v on the heaters (pins 3+4)
2kv ish on the first and third anode
500 ish volts on the second anode.

Tie all the deflector plates to HT (for test purposes)

I do have a diagram here (Cheers Danny!) that makes more sense......

Or follow this link!

Mains EHT hmmmm scary stuff!

Cheers
Sean

I've just had a look at the link and one thing to watch out for is that the adjustment pots are at quite a high (-) potential and if using presets to lash it up you need to be careful when adjusting. Probably stating the obvious again but just thought I'd mention it.
