Default Cossor portable radio

Hi

i have this Cossor valve portable radio, it's untested but the speaker is bad and the handle is broken and the centre cap of the tuning dial is missing

anyone knows the exact model of this radio? is this anything rare and worth restoring or may i go ahead and put a bluetooth module into it?

I could sell it but i live in Italy so shipping could end up quite expensive.

the speaker cone has been repaired and is rattling when i turn the volume up with it hooked to a car radio

Hi Jimmy

Well it is a bit of a dilemma that's for sure.

By the time this set was built the battery portable radio market was dominated by Ever Ready, Pye and Vidor sets , most other manufacturers are thinner on the ground. Cossor seem to have been not very successful in this market although there are plenty of earlier models around.

So I would say that this is one of the less common sets of the era.

I have 3 examples of the electricaly almost identical 552s of which only 1 is in good condition. The 551 has a ferrite rod aerial whereas the 552 has a frame aerial.

I will drop you a PM later

Cheers
