Default Hoover Shampoo Polisher model 5464

Hi Folks,
We've just got one of these 1960's gems for cleaning the stone floors in out house. Just the job and so satisfying to use a classic design that works every bit as well as it first did 45 years ago.
So the question is, has anyone got a copy of the original instruction booklet we could have a scan of, or anyone know of a scan on the web? I'm most appreciative of any help.
Meanwhile here's a picture of her in all her glory
Nice eh?
Cheers,
Steve.

Thanks Michael, it's a more recent model but interesting and useful reading nevertheless. One or two features of our 5464 aren't mentioned but I'm sure the recommendations for cleaning techniques etc. are valid.

It would be nice to have the matching instructions for our one just for completeness.

Steve.

Just a point...have you tried Hoover themselves? They are a large company and may well have an archive. They may also be interested (for publicity purposes) that one of their machines is still working.

When I worked for a major company, the archives went back over 50 years and we used to get letters from people who had items working way beyond their service life. Most times we could help with instructions.

Great to see one of these still being used, my mother had a blue one for polishing the parquet floors back in the sixties, I still remember the noise it made.

From memory, it came with various polishing pads that clipped on to the centre of the brushes.

There's also a Hoover Yahoo group (Hooverland) you could join and ask. Searching it for "5464" shows some files/info to be available but, not being a member myself, can't search it to any depth. The link will probably tell you to sign in and click the age restriction thing.

There's also vacuumland.org that could be of use too, they're often sharing scanned instruction manuals for different things there...

Yes, of course there is always Hoover - I have been to their website and naturally it only deals with current models. I will try to contact them as a last resort.
It's a great thing about living in this modern age that my first thoughts and by far the easiest approach led me to post here...
Cheers,
Steve.
PS I too worked for a large organisation once, and the amount of old (and of course significantly interesting and valuable) records and paperwork that was skipped in the interests of economy beggars belief. Some of it (a minor fraction) I know was "rescued" by concerned individuals - thank goodness - but so much was lost...

Steve

I've been having a sort out in the attic and I found one of these up there. It's seems to be complete with all attachments and an instruction manual.
It was left here by the previous owner and who knows maybe the owners before them.
If you still need a copy of the instructions let me know and I will send you a scan.

John

I would have thought with the current fashion for wooden floors that a modern version of these would sell well, maybe people aren't as fastidious about a shining floor as our mothers/grandmothers!

Edit - just checked Hoover and they still sell one, a chrome 'retro' item, £180 though!

John,
Nice to find one with all the bits, I'm presently trying to source some new scrubbing brushes for ours, the ones we have are a bit soft.....
A scan of the instructions would be very welcome, I'll PM you with my email.

Thanks,
Steve.

Default Hoover shampooer polisher model 5464

Hi, I am desperately looking for a manual/instructions for a Hoover polisher model 5464 and wondered if anyone knows anywhere I can get one,
download, a pdf copy etc or any links? Anything would suffice, I just can't fiind that particular model. Any help would be great.

Thanks.

I just came across the site and the post asking for User Instructions relating to the Hoover Shampoo Polisher 5464. Well, I have just re-discovered one of these; I doubt if it's ever been used, all the bits seem to be there, including instructions and it works! If anyone would like a copy of the instructions, I will send.
