Default Circuit Symbols For Diagrams

Hi!

Here is the first instalment of Newnes-style symbols in Vector SVG format for creating PW-style diagrams!

This section covers Battery Valves - there will be more added as I can produce them - comments and suggestions welcome!

Hi!

Please don't be put off by the small sizes of the files I uploaded - they are fully Vector Scalable and will enlarge without "blockiness" or "pixellation" to any desired size - I printed a DM70 symbol enlarged with Inkscape covering a third of an A4 sheet and it came out as good as anything printed in Practical Wireless!

Anyone who's good with Illustrator or Inkscape, which alas to say I'm not, will know how to enlarge & use these!

I have started work on more symbols and will upload them as soon as they're ready!

No doubt it's me but I'm unable to get that Zip file to open. Both computers that I've tried it on tell me that it's empty.

Opened ok for me - Windows 7 and WinRAR. Symbols load fine into MS Visio Professional 2013. Thanks for your efforts Chris.

Windows 10 here and nothing doing!

Does it require a different program to open this particular format of zip file?

Perhaps it would be useful to know what you used.

It's actually a .rar archive, and needs the non-Free version of unrar to open it.

Note that the Source Code is actually available, but it is restricted: the author does not want you to use it to develop a .rar compression tool.

I tried making a different version with the files I had successfully extracted, as a .tar.gz but the forun didn't like the extension, so you'll have to rename this .doc file

Hi!

Many more of these are being developed, and:-

1) I'll make 'em into a much larger collection, and:-

2) Make sure there are a true "zip" archive that will open with XP, 7 or 8.1's native zip tool!

They will include ready-to-use I.F. transformers, push-button/piano-key & rotary-wafer switches, amongst other things, when complete - I estimate there will be well into the hundreds!

Chris Williams

PS!

If anybody knows of a symbol needed for this Forum not available in standard CAD tools, or one that is simply drawn very badly in general, please let me know & I'll do my best to draw a better one!

Linux works of course, opens perfectly and zooms to any size.

It doesn't open with 7zip, which handles most compression formats (including things like rar, cabinet files, Windows installers and tar.gz files) so it's using something very proprietary in WinRAR.

That's opening fine. Illustrator CS6 is interpreting those SVGs as XML for some reason, but other applications seem fine.

Well, SVG files are an XML application, just as is XHTML. It's probably recognising the document structure as being some kind of XML even if it doesn't know exactly which kind of XML it is.

Yup, but normally Illustrator opens SVG files with no problems. It thinks these ones are just text.

I suspect the SVG problem is caused by the SPlan software used to create them, it is not exactly fully compliant with some formats.

As an example, it can't read it's own gerber files.
