Low self discharge sub c nimh cells
Can anyone point to a supplier of LOW SELF DISCHARGE SUB C NIMH CELLS, preferably tagged?
### PLEASE NOTE - ONLY LOW SELF DISCHARGE SUB C #### I need the low s/d feature for a battery in a remote location that can only be charged irregularly, maybe 6 months apart.; standard cells seem to die when left. So far I've had no luck, despite well meaning help from people who haven't read the question. cheers JohnB |

What voltage do you need for the full battery pack?

Ansmann MaxE will do the job https://cpc.farnell.com/ansmann/5035...ged/dp/BT04685
I’d retro fit alkaline myself. Plan on replace rather than recharge. |

Re: Low self discharge sub c nimh cells
The manufacturers seem to have mostly switched to low self discharge technology now. The giveaway is that they're sold as ready charged. I bought some cheap AAs from Lidl and they're fine with a topup charge every 6 months.

Re: Low self discharge sub c nimh cells
Thanks for the cpc link- what I was looking for but very dear.
Alkaline cells: don't come in sub C, no room for C. unit draws 1.5A and no room for a battery holder and very expensive to run.. Lidl OK, used them, but note they don't do SUB C John G8jmb |

Re: Low self discharge sub c nimh cells
May be worth a look at batteriesplus.co.uk if not done so already.
(I have read the question and note you want NiMh LSD Sub C, but from general interest i am quite surprised at the capacity of the NiCd Sub C they now have. I am pleasantly surprised at how they maintain charge if left idle, provided they receive a significant charge after use, not just a quick tickle.) Dave |

Re: Low self discharge sub c nimh cells
That's quite cheap for the class of cell. RS are selling the same ones for £13 each!
LiFePo3 packs are an option as well. Huge energy density, enough to offset the self discharge rate, cheap and reliable. |
