Default Thermistor identity

Hi.
purchased a non working Murphy B831 with a couple of problems the main one being is the thermistor which has detached itself from its leads. The service manual quotes va-1040 on the circuit diagram so I googled and could`nt find any information whatsoever. The component is circular about the size of a 5p piece with a brown body and an orange band across it. Any help with identification/replacement will be much appreciated.
