TV20 EHT rectifier
Please can somebody confirm that the + sign on this rectifier is indicating the cathode.

Yes it is the Cathode end.
They were used in US sets as well. If you break it apart, you'll find 100's of tiny Selenium discs. Dave, Midwest USA. |
