Garrard RC121/4H turntable servicing guide
This is a follow-on from my previous query concerning this deck and as tinkering around with an oil can didn't bring the desired result, I decided to do a full strip-down, clean up and re-grease/oil.
I am attaching details of the work carried out and photos showing the location of the numbers referred to in red in case anyone feels like having a go. In practice the dismantling was quite straight forward, the only traps for the unwary being the ball bearing under the turntable and the tiny ball bearings under the tone arm which scattered everywhere! The greased areas were cleaned and re-greased and all spindles cleaned with metal polish and polished up. The only post rebuild adjustment I found necessary was on collar 26 which needs slacking off a bit or the tone arm sticks when playing a record. The deck now works perfectly |
