Re: Bush Record player lid stains
You could try an all over deeper clean rather than trying to stain/color it. A medium toothbrush with a 60% Cif creme cleaner/40% water mix is effective. It's fairly aggressive so try a patch first. Edward

Re: Bush Record player lid stains
That looks to me like mildew marks. For some reason the bush SRP31's seem to do that with damp. the mildew seems to bleach the pigment out of the rexine. I don't know if it was the colouring process used on the rexine they used or not but I've had several of these players all with the same marks. Usually on the bottom of them from where they've been stored in damp conditions though. Nothing I've ever tried has got rid of them. I would try some sort of renovating. but if you do find a way to remove them or cover them up then please let me know.

I've never used dye on these but have resprayed quite a few with spray cans. If you can find one very close to the original colour with a satin finish, it should look good.

Hi. I use the B&Q range of spray cans. They are simply called colours, come in gloss satin and matt, and are described as craft paints suitable for all kinds of materials.

Re: Bush Record player lid stains
Brushing acrylic, applied with a bit of PU foam, works very well on leather, and, I would imagine, be just as good on vinyl. As usual, use several thin coats; drying beteen coats is only anout 10 minutes in warm conditions.

Re: Bush Record player lid stains
As Scimitar says, check out Vinylkote. It's made by a company called "Formula 40" and I think it's only available online now. Good stuff, leaves the grain of the material distinct and doesn't sit as a heavy coat on the surface, it's not a paint, it alters the pigmentation of the material treated, clever stuff. It's available in dozens of colours and I think they even do a colour match service, I know they used to. Used it on the interior of my Zephyr a few years ago and was very impressed with the results.
No connection with Formula 40, just highly impressed by their product. Regards, Paul

They are very helpful and can be called on the phone. Located in Aston Birmingham. They will also match to a sample you provide. Available by the litre or in aerosols.

Re: Bush Record player lid stains
Have you tried Swarfega?
I've found it to have a pretty aggressive cleaning effect on Rexine, to the extent of tending to emulsify the top layer of pigment on some examples, but that may be what this problem needs. As in Edward's warning above, best to try it on an umimportant patch first. Martin
