Marconiphone 4170 Case Restoration Ideas?
I bought a Marconiphone 4170 and now have the radio working really well - the audio (aided by the bass and treble controls) is amazingly good.
I want to clean up the front panel and would appreciate ideas as to how i can approach it. The right side , where the volume, tuning and tone controls are, seems to be an annodised metal, whereas the rh side where the pushbuttons are seems to be chromed - does anyone have ideas as to how to 'rejuvinate' those areas. To complicate things the annodiesed area where the tone/ etc controls are has the words 'off-volume' , tuning etc 'printed' on which obviously i dont want to remove when trying to clean the annodised metal Also, any suggestions how the clean the clear plastic tuning 'window'? many thanks |

First try a soft toothbrush with regular soap/warm water. You can then try some white spirit on a soft cloth - which is quite gentle. Be careful of any areas with transfers on them. Edward

Despite the name, this also works well on bright chrome and aluminium. Providing the
brushed ally is clean, it's often best just to to use an aerosol clear varnish. http://www.greygate.com/product/plastic-polish/ |
