phillips 4302 automatic
Thers one of these in my local charity shop window. The shop is hardly ever open tho, so i cant get a close look at it.
I was wanderign. is it old? I think it's a reel-to-reel, because it has a big cover on the top, but i'm not sure. Does anyone know anythign about this. Is it valve or transistor, and is it worth getting? If it's pretty modern-ish than i suppose it wont be that interasting. But then again i dont think any reel-to-reels are that modern. Googling it didnt reveal much. Thanks. |

Re: phillips 4302 automatic
I believe this is an early 70s four track stereo reel-to-reel. It will use silicon transistors. If it's cheap you could buy it to play around with reel-to-reel recording, tape editing etc. but it may need physical repairs (new belts etc) and isn't really collectable - unless some vintage tape recorder specialist thinks otherwise?
It's 'Philips' BTW Best regards, Paul |

Re: phillips 4302 automatic
Hi Adi , the 4302 is a mono two track machine from the earlly 1970s it uses silicon transistors in the preamp stage and AC187/188 transistors for outputs. It uses the same transport as the 4307/4308 machines discussed in another thread, this being the case you will probably find that all the belts are shot so the machine will need a fair amount of restoration .

Re: phillips 4302 automatic
Hi There Reelguy and Adi , wasnt suggesting you waste your money on the machine just giving some information. Although the machine will no doubt be restorable, its far better left to someone who is dedicated to reel to reel machines As it will take a lot of time and patience.
