The h-field transanalyser
I built this device to test and align vintage AM broadcast band transistor radios.
The idea is to have one compact piece of kit to do it all, without needing an general laboratory RF generator with accurate counter and a scope. Also to provide a system to assess the transistor radio's sensitivity. Three radios have been measured and their data added to the article. The reasoning behind the design of it all is explained in the article. |

Thanks Wendy.
One reason I write up my projects and put them on my website is that if a year or two goes by, I can get to them easily from any net connected computer and see what I did with some part of some circuit. As time goes by it is hard to remember the finer details of different projects and it can be handy to have it in cyberspace, even if it is just the pin connections of some IC or the resistor values used in a circuit. Also it creates a good service resource if the thing breaks down and needs repair. It adds extra time to a project to write it up in detail and web publish it, but its worth it in the long run and the articles might help someone else. |

That's an excellent piece of kit and very clearly documented. The frequency readout being very useful. When I can find the time, I'll try to build this circuit but I already have a multitude of other projects in the pipeline. Time is the biggest problem these days and it seems to fly by quicker as we get older.
