Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to source a UX5 male plug so I can build an original type speaker for my Pathe Vox projectors without needing to modify the sockets. I have attached a photo of the pin configuration as I have a couple of 47 type valves in an amplifier. I used one to check that it is indeed a UX5 socket. If anybody can help then that would be great, at worse a base from a U/S UX5 valve would work okay but it would be nice to find a proper plug too. Cheers Bren |

As a last resort you could use an 807 valve base turned in to the plug you desire with some sealant after it is made.

Yes that's the plan if one can't be sourced. Would be a shame to remove one from a perfectly good valve though so if anybody has a bad UX5 socketed valve then that would be great.

I save the old dead tubes to make plugs from when I need them.
A 5 pin base from a 24, 24A , 51, or a 41 would work. Also Cinch Jones and Amphenol also make the 5 pin bases. possibly you could find a juke box repairman. IIRC they used them in the juke boxes for inter connecting cable wiring. Probably I can dig one out, but postage from the States would likely exceed cost of one there. |

Thanks for the replies. Frank, if you manage to find one of the 'proper' UX5 type interconnecting plugs then I would be happy to pay for shipping from the states otherwise it'll probably be cheaper for me to source an 807 here and remove the base. As Chris said the UX type bases were not common here in the UK so things like interconnecting cables often used a pattern similar to our B4 bases. I think Pathe only used them as there looks to be some American influence on their projector amplifiers, they use all American valve line ups and American plugs and sockets. I don't know if that was similar across all of France at the time but it strikes me as a bit unusual.

There are quite a few 807s on eBay untested (apart from heaters) from £5.00 - £7.00.
It takes a lot to wear out an 807, so it may seem a shame to sacrifice one, but needs must... EG: Untested 807, 'buy it now' £5.00 + £3.30 post: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195311897...YAAOSwD1xjCbbY Good luck in your quest Bren.
